Terry's Fight Against Cancer, (C.L.L) - 3/09/2010 Update

Good afternoon Family & Friends:

Let me first recognize that today is a beautiful day that the Lord has made. No matter how difficult yesterday was, or the challenges we’re each facing today, we are Favored. Whether we feel like it or not, we are all blessed to have, what we have and that we woke up today. Let us find it within our hearts to be thankful!

As Cherice’s has been able to provided updates, I’ve forwarded and posted them so that we could keep as many people up to date as possible. I wanted to advise everyone with the latest update on Terry’s condition and developments.

Monday evening around 7:20pm, as I waited at the train station for my wife’s train to arrive. I received a call advising me that Terry’s condition had taken a turn and had begun to deteriorate. The doctors advised Cherice that his liver and kidneys were on the verge of failing and there was not much that they could do at this point. They said he could last a few weeks but he’s only got a 10% chance of surviving. Terry’s immediate family, friends and friends of the family converged on the hospital from all over the coast to be at his bedside. Obviously everyone feels that this can’t be happening, especially since things were looking up as-late-as last week.

With all that said, Tuesday was a new day. The doctors came in, removed some of the fluid buildup that was complicating issues. Afterwards, Terry was more alert and bodily functions resumed. They said that that was a major indicator to monitor and gage progress. Forgive the crudeness but isn’t it interesting that when it boils down to it, wellness comes down to how well you poop & pee. Even though he’ll kill me later when he reads this but, we really found joy in seeing how much he was urinating. Hearing the sudden words from out of a sleep, “I’ve got to pee”, brought smiles to everyone’s faces!

It goes without saying that Terry still has a fight on his hands but he’s never backed away from a challenge before. When the pressure is at its highest is when Terry is more focused on the challenge at hand. Tell him what he has to do and he gets it done. So if that means he’s got to pee, then he’ll do everything within his power to make that happen! To know the Carlos’ is to know a God fearing and confident bunch.

We know that God has a plan that will be delivered and it will be on time. His Word tells us that He will not put any burden upon us that we cannot handle and that He will never leave or forsake us. The hardest thing for each of us is to find our place and understanding in his Word during our trials and tribulations. How does it apply to me and the situation I’m going through right now!

We need to ask every single one of you to lift Terry up in prayer.

Again, I want to thank each of you that have been sincerely inquiring and communicating with me or family either by calling, texting, e-mailing or following these posts on the L.U.G. It 4U blog. Thanks to everyone that came to the hospital to express their love & support for Terry and the Carlos family.  I'm sure he appreciated it more than we know.  You all have truly been supportive, understanding and compassionate. You’ve been a blessing with your prayers, donations and open hearts.  Especially those of you that don’t know Terry personally, but found it in your hearts to care.
